Honestly, last year's team with this year's schedule would probably end up with the same record. That having been said, we were better offensively last year (Addison, Dye & OL) and had more takeaways which were the difference in a few of our games but also could easily have ended up with a few more losses in 2022 as well.
It's hard to say if holding onto AG after last season was a mistake AT THE TIME given that Oregon's defense was almost as bad as ours, Oklahoma's was worse and they both held onto their coordinators. In hindsight, he should have paid Leonhard 2M to coach here for a year and then find a HC job somewhere if that's what he wanted.
No one asked me, but I think a turnaround would be relatively easy for USC compared to a lot of other programs. Start recruiting from the inside out instead of the outside in. If Riley can do that, and also hire a competent DC, USC is winning many of these close games going forward.
Riley didn't suddenly become a bad coach imo. His priorities could be said to be slightly askew however.

Bump! This was my prediction after watching one game. You dopey rah rahs were counting championships. Unfortunately, for all of us, I'm never wrong.
