I haven't seen video on either QB. I'm just curious what the board thinks. I know some have said Longstreet was always better. What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses?
Sidenote: I attended 3 Mater Dei games this year and their QB (UW bound), Dash Beierly, has really improved with each game. He transferred in for his senior year. Not overly fast but does enough to avoid the rush and he has been throwing dimes steadily throughout the year.
Lewis plays on a very good high school team. Carrolton HS is ranked #3 right now in the highest classification. I watched them play a decent lower classification team earlier this year and Lewis just isn't all that. His is on the small side, not particularly fast and only has above average arm strength. Think Matt Barkley.
I'm not saying either of these HS QB's are as good as these comparisons, but it gives you an idea. Think of Lewis like Bryce Young: smart, delivers on time, decision-making, smallish, not very mobile, decent arm. Longstreet is more like CJ Stroud: good size, strong arm, playmaker, can make plays with feet.
H. Longstreet is a 5* DT QB. Athletic, good size 6-2, 200 lbs, very strong arm, able to extend plays with his legs. Better QB for USC and C. LR RPO. I believe he is ranked as the # 5 QB in nation. Not sure about his leadership qualities? We will see when he takes over and become QB1. Dam glad we got him instead of JJ Lewis.
JJ Lewis, 6-0, 175 lbs is a 4* Pro style QB. On the small side for a QB, not athletic, average arm, can not extend plays with his legs, lazy footwork in the pocket, good accuracy. He needs a team with A+ OL and he will do well. Good luck to him at his next 3 college teams, lol...
Dash Beierly, 6-1, 210 lbs, is a 3+* DT QB. Above average passer (good enough), runs well. He will do well at UDub. Has good speed, strong and tuff running QB (runs like a RB). Has Moxie and Mojo! Like him as a QB, but not over Longstreet.
2026 class, 5* DT QB, Ryan Lyons, 6-3, 215 lbs, Folsom HS, Calif. Man, USC and C. LR must land this awesome QB. Ryan is ranked # 3 QB in the 2026 class. He has all the tools. Very athletic, great arm (has all the throws), A+ speed-fast QB. I think he'll grow to 6-4, 225 lbs. He has Moxie and Mojo! Plays for Folsom HS that has one of the top O in the country (Air Raid O). Lyons is the man and future for USC FB program.
