“The reality was this season we had one guy that consistently won, that had a decent shot to consistently win pass rush, and the reality was if he didn’t get there our chances weren’t super high. We’ve got to get better across the board there. Again, that’s making and developing the guys on your roster to be better, that’s bringing in the type of talent that we expect to have across the board on that front seven. You can’t fake that front seven — you can’t do it. You can run any scheme in the world that you want, you can do whatever you can, but you cannot fake having great talent and obviously developing the talent in-house there. That’s an obvious spot that we’ve got to get better defensively.”

Then why wasn’t it a recruiting priority? sc
What I see so far with the Dline of Lucas, Barrs, Sullivan and Muhammad is that they were all starters or major contributors on their teams. Last year with Taleni, Byrd we were getting bodies and hoping they contribute. Perhaps our good season is making the difference this year.
Glad he’s recognizing it…and the last 48 hrs it seems he’s doing something about it.
I feel a lil better about that side of the ball than I did walking out of the Death Star.
👍…. Many here said essentially the same thing, starting all the way back week 2 of the season.
This is a Helton statement. Lack of talent doesn't explain 9000 missed tackles or 3* Jewlane running all over him. He's a bitch.
