BTW their AD has significant Oregon ties....his dad was the visionary that brought us quacks out of the dark ages in college football long before Phil Knight was ever involved, and he grew up in Eugene and worked at the UO for a while.

Let's hope he both feels there are much better choices out there than Cristobal when the time comes AND doesn't want to screw over the UO.

During the trip Mario made note of the fact that if she were aware, she would tell him to get his butt back to Eugene. That tells me she is in pretty bad shape. I don't see Cristobal lying about something like that--especially involving his mother.

Could it have also provided him time to talk to Miami? Sure. But that's what agents are for. Besides, I don't think Miami even has an AD hired yet.

I think in this case the simple answer is likely the correct one--he was visiting his sick mom.
