When Browns quit on Baker they did it for a conditional 4th or 5th round pick and picked up $5M of his $10M contract.

When J E T S shipped Sam to Carolina they got a 2nd & 4th (following year) and a 6th. Sam was also owed $8.5M that last year of his rookie deal.

Sam was demonstrably better in Carolina in same ecosystem. I think that matters. Baker was 1-5 in 6 games and released (?). Rams then picked him up.

Baker is a clubhouse guy who is A natural/capable leader. Sam is a quiet, no excuse, tough pro who leads by example.

Baker just played with best WR in game (and in this recent era) with Mike Evans.

Talking heads will say diggs or chase.

Mike Evans is a beast and would be my pick. Baker had a very good year for TB. 4000 yards and a 28/10 TD/INT ratio. All career highs. Great timing on his part. (Mo Vaughn & Josh Hamilton come to mind) Earned his new contract. If I were TB I would not have paid that much but I would have resigned him.

In 2022, Sam was 21 points ahead and 2 quarters away from leading Carolina to a playoff berth in same division. TB12 and Mike Evans (in single coverage) then torched Carolina and won a close One.

Baker finished this year with a record of 9-8 in 2023 in the worst conference in NFL. (NFC South). With a QB less Saints & falcons plus the worst rookie QB season in history (statistically) led Carolina.

Tampa overpaid. Happens. They will regret it. I bet against baker in Cleveland and lets call that a wash even tho they shipped him for a 5th rounder and clearly wasnt resigned. I bet against Baker in Carolina and was unquestionably right. He was awful.

I will bet against him again. Genetics matter and he’s a shrimp. Today he won. Time is on my side. Comfortable being wrong today and even tomorrow.

Unlike you, I dont hate on what appear to be good dudes. Go do your thing BM….Good luck. Tough dude who gives it his all.

Lets see what happens with Sam from here. He has an uphill climb for sure.

So far much less luck then Baker. And I intentionally use that word here. (Cleveland vs Jets situation. Tampa this year vs San Fran and Purdy blowing up)

Sam's got the best job in the NFL. Should have kept it. Based on his track record he will get to watch football for $10 mil a year.

Sam WAS 3. Sam has made a rookie deal and Baker made than and now $100 million. Dude totally resurrected his career and proved everyone wrong in ONE YEAR.

Oh, his deal? for 3 years. And there are incentives where he can make $115 million total. $50 million of the deal is guaranteed.

In other words, the guaranteed portion of Baker's deal, 1.5 years worth. Is as much as Sam has made his entire career.

Sam’s made $50$55 million in his career. Thats solid. Made $5 mil last year and didn’t get his uniform dirty more than 2-3 times. I need that job.
