PFF reports Miller Moss held the ball against LSU and average of 2.5 seconds versus Caleb Williams holding the ball 3.5 seconds last year....
That's got to help the OL first for how long they have to hold their blocks and second knowing where the QB is to block for IMHO...as creative and dangerous as CW was he moved around so much an OLman must have had nightmares trying to figure out where to go to block for the guy..heard this on Youtube from a USC site...
And they had to hold their stance for a long time until CW got the snap
Thats a good stat 👍
Cuts down on the penalties. As does the lack of running around. When you change directions suddenly the OL is blocking a man INTO your path and not away from it. At that size, their only choice is to grab and hope they don't get caught. Everyone loves that running around playground ball but it comes with a price.
While you didn't hear the second differential from me, the other stuff I have been saying certainly all last year as the playground style became the USC offense
Everyone with a brain(me) has been saying that since the bowl game. The fact that Riley let CW run around like a shithead so much is mind-boggling. Daddy Ball Kills!
Very good points Old Hickory. Moss is a Godsend for the OL. But, CW and his amazing scrabbling was a nighmare for opposing D's. CW broke them down; they had a hell of a time trying to contain him. Plus, Wr's got open due to DB's prolong coverage.
Moss needs to pull the ball-mesh and run sometimes. That would keep D's off balance and guessing. Most of all that should help our run game and RB's produce more yds per game.
