Nah, all of you are wrong. What win games is punting, the great C.R.Neuheisel preached this doctrine. LOL...
Kidding aside and on a serious note. A team must be well prepared by their coaches. Must be in tip top condition. A team must send an early message by hitting, blocking and tackling hard. If a team can score pts (TD's or FG's) on most posessions, take 10 to 12 play drives (give the D ample rest). No 3 and outs for the O. Have the D stop the run and have the DB's keep Wr's in front them. Then tighten up in the Red Zone and stop them from scoring TD's. Most of all, Do Not make mistakes and negative turn overs (stupid penalties, IT by QB's, fumbles, allowing Wr's get behind the DB's, LB's plugging the correct gaps and seeing + reacting to the ball quickly and no blocked punts. Most teams will win the game.
PS. Luck comes into play too. Limit and avoid injuries to key players. A good team must have good depth at all positions.
Agree on O line. A complete mess. Will plague all season. Would have given linebackers a C. As far as qb and WR both get a C- for the first have and an A- for the second half. The backup running back like the quarterback are simply more talented. Special teams need a dedicated coach , CLR will probably get to that next year or the year after. ps you forgot to give coaching a grade. You know what I think. sc
USC outscored Wisconsin 28-0 in second half, out gains them 470 to 285, runs 80 plays to 50 and has 40 to 20 minutes of possession time, come from 11 points down at halftime and you are grading the offensive and defensive lines so poorly. You can’t dominate the way we did if both lines play as poorly as you say.
Miss was sacked once. We had 29 first downs to 13, we out passed and out rushed them, we had the ball for 40 minutes. You can’t do that if both of our lines were as bad as people are saying re this game.
Is our o-line great? No but it’s not the disaster that people are saying it is.
Two things stand out to me about the way Branch is used on kick returns.
On kickoffs, he stands near the 5-yard line and if the kick is over his head he's not allowed to field it.
On punts, it seems like he has no idea where an average punt from the punter is likely to come down. He always seems to be standing 10 yards too deep or too shallow.
We need a "short" receiver to fair catch those 35 yard punts. Branch is not going to run forward and get them he wants to stay back for the returnable punts.
Coaching: C minus. It's CRAZY how uninspired and sloppy we are in the first half of these games. Riley should just stay in the background and let Entz talk before the game and not just at half.
My obsession with turnovers is well founded in game results.
That's a lot like saying my fascination with Chris Taylor's 200 K's if he played a whole season and always blaming all of them on the batter is just laughable.
if a RB fumbles, I don't blame the QB. if the QB fumbles, yep, I blame him. Same with INT. QB get all the credit and all the blame. Evidence? Go read your jock sniffing Sam Darnold posts.
Miller Moss is an average or slightly above QB, who is a good capris pants wearing kid playing in a top notch offensive system. he has athletic WR's who have average and inconsistent hands, and plays behind an average to weak offensive line. He has a multi talented RB behind him and a back up RB with fewer skills but a really strong body and running style.
QB #1 job in the NFL is to protect the ball. Clearly you don't see that. It's why you've continued to swing from Sam's balls his entire career as he's moved between what, 4? 5 teams? Turning the ball over wherever he's gone. You've continued believing he's elite and for a drive, he is. Then he blows a drive or a game and we start over. Caleb did not throw picks. We all had plenty of criticism but for the most part he did not turn the ball over. He got it. Sam turned it over at USC lot. Ran up and down the field and then turned it over more than we would like.
If that makes me a Miller hater so be it. I don't think I am. He's ok. Do I think he moves well? No. Do I think he has a great arm? No. Good touch? Most of the time but he's been off. Do I think he's consistent and responds to adversity well? Yes, better than Caleb. Do I think he runs the offense? yes, better than Caleb. Do I think he's tough Yes, ore than Caleb. And sadly, I hate seeing him show how tough he is, because most of the time it's picking himself up off the ground.
Yes TOers are key. Determines ultimate winners/losers alot.
Here is the nuance. If an OL cant protect a QB and he gets blown up over and over I dont just blame the QB becuase the D is dominating or makes a great play.
True but watch the game again. Notice as the second quarter progresses how moss starts to roll out more.
He ran the ball twice. By design. Once each half. That’s key.
Either way. I was talking about the receivers. And turnovers. The pick he threw was bad. The fumble was related to the above. Kinda blind side.
Note. Both picks he’s thrown this year were targets to branch. I’ll write another post about it later but I don’t think that kid is a very good football player. Trackster in cleats
Perfect scoring.
In games like Michigan and Wisconsin there must be 2 comprehensive grades for all positions and coaches (1st and 2nd halves grades).

What justified the b+ for wr? Couple highlight catches? How about the 3-4 drops? Their wr group is average

now do:
turnovers
run stopping defense
red zone scoring offense
and big plays on offense and defense
those things win games
