NCAA Gets Its Teeth Kicked In

The NCAA is prohibited from stopping schools or 3rd parties from paying recruits

The judge wrote the NCAA’s stance likely violates antitrust law with Congress so far unwilling to give the association an exemption. The judge said athletes with a limited window are hurt by not being able to know their true value before committing to a school.

Will this open up the USC Checkbook and boost NIL so USC can compete with others who pay even HS Kids to sign? They sure can't use the excuse of the NCAA looming over them anymore..

In other words as I suspected all that Championship talk coming out of the University wasn't serious if this is the kind of cash layout you need to compete with the Big Boys and USC thinks being USC will get them great players......and another reason Football should be standalone without paying for the other sports...

By the way remind me again why they joined the Big 10 and how much of a payoff that was going to be yearly?

Only schools that are going to compete for natty's are going to be those with football sugardaddy's.

Genie is out of the bottle on all this stuff. Why do you think Saben quit? Alabama has no money.

Expected changes with the portal this spring. But the NCAA will probably lose that one in court too. sc

Reply USC has enough money but they won't spend it on players. Simple as that. Their Athletic Program brings in enough cash to support this kind of investment but they won't....wait and see if Revenue sharing ends up happening...they will have to spend or just disappear from CFB as anyone important...

NIL killed college football.

Oh well. I would be perfectly happy if they got rid of all athletic scholarships and let students try out for the school's teams.

Or, if Universities want to have a sponsored team of off campus employees instead, that's fine with me too. Players get medical, dental, 401K etc. They can negotiate their salaries, sell NIL on their own including rights to their employer if they want . And pay taxes just like everyone else. Students can try out for that team too if they want. sc
