But lets be honest, These traditional conference alliances were as strong as wet toilet paper. Everyone split to the bigger payday. OU & Texas to SEC. OU and Texas (and others) left SWC before the B12 bolt as well.
USC, UCLA to B10. Utah, AZ schools to B12. UW and UO also to B10.
Maybe Phil money could have kept UO in the Pac. Guess his pocket book isnt limitless either.
USC & Holt not wanting to expand with the B12 schools was interesting. Sorry but the Pac lost all academic prestige with AZ schools already. And Buffs and Utah and PNW schools sure arnt being confused as ivy leagues either.
I dont like USCs role in any of this. Wish we didnt leave. Instead of chasing money maybe try saving some. Works out the same at the end. I dont have a great feeling about the move & our CC hopes in all sports. It just got a lot harder it would seem but Stanford and Oregon have many good Olympic sports programs as well.
Now were a big fish in a big ocean. 🤷♂️
Not sure thats better. The payday helps tho. Everyone followed the money.
Leadership was either to dumb to see it coming (super conferences and media $$), to trusting of handshake alliances or in on it and paid useful idiots. Only a few truly know. I think it was corruption and payouts. They have just done a great job of covering it up why would espn/fox expose themselves?
Media is powerful medium. 1\2 the Country is still convinced Trump was Russian asset and the pee pee tapes were real.
Very good. Did not know the networks role in making this happen. So not only is espn encouraging the rotting from the inside of America that is known as wokeNess, they were a major player in directly attacking the Pac 12 to throw the big 12 a bone to allow them to get Texas and Oklahoma into their pet conference as fast as possible
Well, espn went beyond just reporting sports years ago and decided they had the right to choose a priori the winners and the losers. Now, they can say they are chasing better profits (wrong), but where has the ncaa been with this. Ultimately, they think the integrity of the sport rests with them (it should if they are to exist), but this somehow never extends to the coaches or tv, only the players who provide the entertainment but weren't allowed to profit from their efforts until NIL came into being. This whole cartel is corrupt top to bottom.
Bump
Wow. Even more reasons to hate ESPN.
This was a very well done summary.
So Scott really was as bad as they say.
