The Vikings didn’t trade up to have him sit behind Darnold. Darnold will keep the spot warm for about 10 games and then JJ will take over.
JJ is nothing like Lance. Lance played at a small school and only started for 1 year in HS and 1 year in college.
I hope Darnold starts for the Vikings and does well, because then maybe McCarthy can hold a clipboard for a couple of years and not be thrown into the acid bath too soon, which has fucked up too many QBs to name. It fucked up Darnold, too, but he may have recovered from it...if he can ever learn to hang onto the football and quit forcing ill-advised passes.
