Posted earlier whether or not USC could tackle and play defense...hoped they wouldn't lose but it sure looks like most underestimated UCLA and over estimated a USC team that the last few weeks looked terrible and uncoached and unmotivated....CLR better do some soul searching and clean house with a new attitude on toughness and get rid of players and coaches that aren't good enough or motivated enough to get the job done....he also needs to re-evaluate his approach on how the game needs to be played and practiced...IMHO...
Entering the Big 10 play with his approach to football is a sign of the Bataan Death March...if nothing dramatically changes. Better make sure his coaches cannot only coach but can also access talent and recruit and his practices better be a walk through hell if he wants to compete..IMHO
Good post.
just get a real coach, not someone toostupid to learn on the job.
I agree with this. Before the Arizona loss, UCLA was a solid Top 25 team with an excellent defense and a shaky offense, similar to Utah, and a lot of fans were concerned about this one back then. Reports of Chip getting canned made it seem like their team was just going to throw in the towel but it's clear they came to play.
If there's any silver lining it's that if we get the DC hire right, next year will have a much more positive outlook. UCLA showed that it's possible to make big strides defensively if you bring in a guy who's good at what he does and allow him to coach. Hopefully CLR realizes that whatever approach he was using up through this season just wasn't working and that the decisions he makes do have far reaching consequences, good and bad. If he is truthful about having more clarity on what to do moving forward then that's a great thing, but if it's just more coachspeak I think next year may be his last at USC.
