Rumor is he’s going to be staging walk on tryouts on the Ok State campus.

DALLAS — Oklahoma is at lows not seen since the late 1990s after suffering a 49-0 loss to rival Texas in the 2022 Red River Showdown. For the first time since 1998, the Sooners suffered a shutout, now on a three-game losing streak. Saturday's defeat was also the most-lopsided in program history against the Longhorns as first-year Sooners coach Brent Venables faces difficult questions.

For a second-straight game, the opposition gashed Oklahoma's defense. A week after TCU racked up 668 total yards of offense, Texas piled up 585. Oklahoma's offense, meanwhile, was futile without starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who went into concussion protocol in the 55-24 loss in Week 5 to the Horned Frogs.

With Davis Beville at quarterback Saturday, Oklahoma resorted to a wildcat formation for a healthy portion of the game. But that was no solution against a Texas offense that held Oklahoma to 195 total yards.

OPENING STATEMENT: "Really disappointed in how we played today. ... We had some guys that could not participate today and I don't think that had anything to do with the outcome the game. We were good enough on both sides of the ball to be a little more competitive and have a chance to win the game than what we displayed. The coaching and getting ready, that responsibility falls on me. Obviously we have not done a great job of that.. .... I think our players are incredibly invested. It's the first half of the season and it's a frustrating time for them. ... Some plays looked like maybe a tired team. And there are probably several reasons why right now we are having to play near perfect football. And we are unable to do that right now."
