USC suited up fewer than 55 players last night.
Considering about 5 are specialists. Long snappers holders K P. ko guy. That means they played last night including special teams with about 25 guys a side. Or less.
Pretty much everyone got in the game. Hard to win with such a thin roster. Doing it against a well stocked top 15 team to close the year made it a solid win
this is why you don't open the portal til after the season is done and why you don't have separate LOI days separated by only 2 months... Too much focus on non-bowl related activities and too many squad disruptions. One has to wonder why these dates were set as they are and haven't been emended, as there is no justification for the current model, unless chaos is what the NCAA is after. I'm guessing that is the desired intent, so the ncaa needs to die a very quick death. It serves no meaningful purpost anymore.
And against a damn good coach. I'm very impressed with Brohm. His game plan was to stop the run, make USC one dimensional with the passing game and an unproven QB, unproven receivers, a patchwork OL, a last minute replacement TE. Any coach would have done the same thing. Trouble is, the QB was coached up, the FR receivers were nails, Lemon and Lane made some big catches in big moments, the TE made a big catch and the Oline didn't give up a sack even with full on pressure. The Fr LT was pretty damn good in his first start.Riley took the game seriously and was ready too. Riley showed why he is one of the winningest active coaches in college football ( winning %). Momentum building win heading into spring. The blocked punt was nice too. Lynch sucks.
