My quacks are +12 in turnover margin so far in 2021, and first in the nation in FBS. Next closest is Kent State at +8.
That's the real reason Oregon is winning. If that margin changes, you'll likely start seeing Oregon losing games....which is sort of what I predict will happen this season. Maybe as soon as Saturday at Stanford? (Stanford is +2 for the season so far. UCLA is +3. USC is -1.)
In 2020 Oregon was #121 (out of 127) in turnover margin at -9 for the season. I know everyone thought Cristobal couldn't coach, and Oregon just wasn't a good team during the 2020 Covid-shortened season. It was really more about a team not gelling under a new OC and DC with basically no prep time, plus turnovers which can come from lack of practice imo.
If Oregon can keep up the TO margin, not sure there is a team that has gone from such extremes in a span of a year.
The sad part for me and my quacks is Oregon probably can't keep this up, and likely would have lost to Arizona on Saturday without those 5 turnovers....
