Oregon RB Travis Dye to USC, (Boom) took longer than anyone thought

Looking back is always great fun. Who'd a thunk Oregon would not miss either Dollars or Dye in 2023 due to the riches brought forth from the transfer portal? Not this quack.... 😎

@LADuck Never watched it...I stopped watching USC football when Helton was kept when the new AD came on board and they decided Helton just needed help... and you stated the coaches decided they wanted to keep Dollar over Dye....I call that BS...picking a guy whose career in 4 years rushed for under 200 yards over a guy who in four years rushed over 3100...sure they did:-)

@OldHickoryTrojan You probably best get your facts straight, Mi Amigo. Dollars has been at Oregon 3 years total: 1 season injured for most of it, and last season was injured for all of it (redshirted). Not 4 years. When he's played, he has shined. But with Verdell and Dye in front of him, and being young, the opportunities were limited.

Dye could never beat out CJ Verdell as a starter. The ceiling is higher with Dollars than Dye. Do you lose Dollars to keep Dye for one final season? Tough choice, sure.

But put it this way, had Dollars and Dye come in with the same class instead of Verdell and Dye, my strong suspicion is Dollars would have been the lead back, and Dye the back-up a la Verdell and Dye.

Coach Lanning convinced Dollars to remove himself from the portal a few weeks ago. How'd he manage that? Especially with Bryon Cardwell being the lead back or behind Dye at worst... "Return to Oregon where you will be at best the 3rd back, and maybe by your final season you'll be lead back..." He knew there was a good chance of losing Dye at the time. And from what I've heard, Oregon is not interested in getting into a bidding war over him with USC... 😉 If Dye stays, likely Dollars goes back in the portal.

@LA Duck You need to read the comment on Go Ducks I posted Oregon is looking at all kinds of ways they can keep Dye....including NIL , guarantee's etc...so again Your take about the coaches picking dollar over Dye appear to be BS...and so in three years he's ruched for under 200 yards versus Dye's over 3100....ya OK
