Less than 6 bucks to get in. 1962. Here we see OHT and family in line to get their tickets. OHT is the ornery looking dude with the glasses and sour puss.
Where is OHT by the way? Busy preparing for the civil war that's coming I suppose.
Thanks Pasadena for the info. I think that's where they lodged in that special suite. But, it would be kinda scary to be the only folks sleeping inside the park? I would think his kids would have had more fun at one DL resort hotels with the pool and walking around the hotel grounds and being among all the guess.
Dang, $10 to $20 K per night is insane. Hah an expensive bed and breakfast. Heck, when you have that kind of income and money, why not? Cheers.
Well, Butkus, I guess it's not necessarily an indictment on Kobe Bryant but rather a story on celebrity. I'm sure there's a good many fans who would be cordial and gracious and not be overbearing to celebrities, but I'm sure there are many others, too many, who wouldn't be respectful or would perhaps lose themselves, even without meaning to be a nuisance. So, I guess a lot of celebrities, at least superstar celebrities, have just gotten to the point where they just don't want to deal with it. It's understandable in a way, but its still a rather sad state of affairs.
My nephew is a good kid, he dealt with the other guy and I'm sure they worked it out fine. He told me this story in a funny way, he didn't take it personally. He's a Chicago Bulls fan and I think he still showed a certain amount of respect to a Laker!
I'm sure it's an extremely nice suite(s?), or else they wouldn't be able to charge that much. But doesn't it seem weird that ANY lodging at Disneyland would be that expensive?
But Pasadena Trojan is right, I guess if you're absolutely loaded it just doesn't matter.
People enjoy overspending at Disneyland, it is a major flex. You could make it 500 bucks and the people will still come to put the pictures on Insta and let everyone know they are living La Buena Vida.
a business acquaintance just told me he spent $5000 on day passes at Universal Orlando for 2 adults and 2 kids Apparently you don't have to wait in any lines at all. Is that a + message or - to send to your kids?
On one hand, it teaches them that they can just buy influence and a prime spot at the table in life, and that the golden rule is still, and always will be, the law of the land.
Back when i was WeePueblo, gramps used to take me to knott’s. There was a park near the independence hall you could play, and a couple free rides,
iirc. Pick up a chicken dinner and boysenberry pie head back to whittier and enjoy. In the park, parachute ride, soapbox racers, knott’s berry tales. All gone. Montezumas revenge still there, train robbers and the stage coach ride. Good memories.
Today, You couldn’t drag me or my kids to that criminal incubator for anything.
Ya, I'm fairly certain the story was that there was a boom and Ballss opened the first door he saw, or hid in the blacksmith shoppe behind a hay bale, or something like that. Turned out there was a fight in the parking lot and things got wild.
If that's OHT in 1962, looks 73 yrs old. Whoa, OHT must be 135 yrs old, God bless his longevity and amazing life. Kidding aside, where's OHT? Have not seen him for at least 1 1/2 months; hope he's OK?
I'll be 85 in December. My secret is one 3/4 filled glass (5 oz) of wine (red or white) 5 days a week and 1 1/2 oz of Kentucky Straight Bourbon 3 times a week. For real...
I think the one day park hopper at $170, 10 yrs and above is still good value. Including all the special shows and fireworks. I think the food service could be better (quality and prices). One can do both parks in one full day too. Shoot, compare the Taylor Swift concert tickets $400-$1,500. What about sporting games tickets? I love Disneyland and Disney World, Florida.
We always sneak in sandwiches, snacks and water. The checkin folks see them but let us thru, nice people. But, we buy meals for dinner and other snacks (beignets and coffee in New Orleans town, so dam good).
This was the best deal ever. Also the best time I ever had at Disneyland, because the Angels fans truly had the park to themselves and there were no lines
My only time as a kid there, they had the 5 E, 4 D, 3 C, 2 B and 1 A ticket. I tried to use them all and I think I did. I didn't waste much back then and still don't.
Six bucks in 1962 is equivalent in purchasing power to over $62.00 today.
The general admission price to DismalLand today is between $119 and $169 for 10+ years of age, depending on the tier you purchase, whatever the hell that means.
While it's true that DismalLand today has far more attractions than they did in 1962, not to mention a much more massive overhead, I still think The Mouse is gouging.
By the way, do you know how much money you save on a ticket for a child between 3 and 9 years-old (as opposed to your 10 year-old brat)? Between $7-$9! That's it. Gee, thanks, Ghost of Walt, you greedy fuck!
Club 33 is 4 course meal and something like $185/person. Plus the $60k annual fee of course. 😂
Food is good/great but Not the best ever. The service might be. Thats incredible. You will get 4-5 napkin changes.
Pliney and a couple Of 7&7s always hit the spot….

ahh
back when 'E-ticket ride' used to mean something
always went home with a pocket full of C, B, and A tickets even after taking the Main Street trolley
