You're a San Joaquin Memorial grad so thought you'd like to see this. Ehtan Quinn, a Memorial grad, just won the NCAA tennis singles championship as a freshman at Georgia. A feat also accomplished by Connors and McEnroe.
.Great head on his shoulders with a huge and I mean huge forehand. I've been courtside at one of Ethan's workouts and I can attest to his game. Bright future for him. Coached by Brad Stine who was one of Jim Courier's two coaches in '92 when Jim ended up ranked #1 in the world. Brad is now Tommy Paul's coach and has also coached Mardy Fish and Kevin Anderson. Tommy reached the semis of the Australian earlier this year. Brad was on the Fresno State team when I was the assistant coach there from '79-'82. We shared an apartment back then. We'll have lunch once he gets back in town from Wimbledon..
The link below is of Ethan working out with past Wimbledon winner Andy Murray before last year's US Open. He's wearing the red cap. Before Ethan had played one match for Gergia. He's one worth watching. As I wrote above his forehand is huge. He a Fig player. Better than Butch Walts who was my era at Fig and won an NCAA doubles champinoship at USC in the mid-seventis. A better all around game than Butch. And I should know as I pleyed against Butch more than once back in the day.
