Maybe. I never thought much of charley watts though if he was a jazz drummer then I probably have to rethink th at. I saw where he recorded in Dublin this summer. Interesting guy. Windmill lane. His stones work is positively juvenile. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be any better when he does real drumming elsewhere
I just mean he wasn’t very interesting. He didn’t do anything anyone who had played for 6 months couldn’t do. He seemed bored.
he did demand to record at the bottom of the stairwell at windmill lake. Brick building. Stairwell is about 3 stories high. I can’t imagine the massive mish mash of reflected noise in there. Not sure how they deadened it and didn’t get bleed in into various mikes. But that’s what he did. fun story
I saw the The Tubes at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus in 1978 with about 10 other people from my dorm floor. One of the best show bands of their time.
Gene Krupa > most rock drummers
They copied him...but he get little credit as he is hugely un derrrated.
Rolling Stones put out their ranking
Krupa’s reputation still looms large in pop culture: Rolling Stone recently put him at Number 7 in its list of the 100 greatest drummers of all time.
Dave Lovering - the Pixies (showing my age)
How could we forget the criminally underrated Meg White? 😁
Charlie Watts, John Bonham, Ringo Star.
I may have missed the point and wrote down drummers I can name
Terry bozio of Zappa and missing persons.
phil Collins even though everyone thinks of him as a singer.
though king crimson was bill buford?
and the all time underrated drummer even if he’s 1 on everyone’s list? Neil Peart. Just had to say it. Because i have to see his name on every list.
I didn’t listen to these guys early in life but from what I’m hearing I have liked them.
tommy Lee had some chips. The guy Chad something from Red Hot Chili Peppers. And whoever the drummer was in that band who sang enter the sandman.
point is. I ayed for years and all these guys are better than me lol.
guys I am better than
Charley watts of the stones. phil Rudd of Acdc in or out of prison
Rick Allen of Def Leppard Def with 1 arm probably with 2
rhe u2 drummer.
pretty short list hahahaha
This guy and the guitar players were pretty good too.
