PAC 12 crawling back to ESPN

This week PAC went back to ESPN looking for a deal...ESPN in control of this negotiation....sense of urgency from PAC as news about Colorado and possibly Arizona jumping....probably going to settle for anything or it's over....

Still not sure why TEE is so against Oregon joining the B1G. Makes no sense. TEE wanna input me here?

I don't personally see it as joining a midwest league and the p12's arch enemy, most like joining one of the coming 2-4 super conferences which will soon no longer reside in distinct geographic regions. The hiring of the B1G's new conference commish just reinforces that concept.

The p12 has died. Just as regionality has died. The Big 12 offers nothing long term, and the ACC is still TBD if they will morph into one of the super conferences or get gobbled up themselves.

It was the way things were predicted to go all along as college football became more big-business, bottom-line oriented, for better or worse....OU, Texas, USC and UCLA simply blazed the trail.

Reported yesterday that members of the ACC are in talks with the Big10, Big 12 and SEC...

Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Meanwhile, the Big 12 is expected to invite NC State, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Pitt. The SEC would get Florida State and Clemson."

If accurate, and ACC gets out of GOR by dissolving. There it is. , BIG wants Right Coast. PAC 10/12 stays intact. What happens to Duke, BC, Wake, Cuse,ND? My guess is SEC takes 2 more. ND and Duke . So you now have a P4. Done. Finished.

ND unlikely to ever join the SEC...for a number of reasons...and I'll give you two:

Academics would be a harder sell being in that damn redneck conference with those hillbilly's:-)
They would get their asses handed to them week in and week out...:-)

Over? Big 12 has room for 4 teams. The other 6 hold it together. Much less money of course. I still think you’re looking at $20 mil/ school. Just means schools cut some Olympic Sports. Most are worthless anyway.

A 6 team conference will not get an automatic playoff bid. I can see the other conferences just not playing the 6 and letting them die

I doubt SMU gets a real invite. Too many still remember pony express days of rampant cheating, which probably continues to this day. And then there is the former? religious affiliation that will never play well in the bay area.

Feel bad for sdsu. Their star is on the rise after what their bball team almost did, but they are hitching their wagon this some train called Donner. Its not going to end well.

it wouldnt be 6, you add sdsu, SMU. That keeps the auto bid. And the ooc games will be vs Mtn west , AAC, sun belt. If the other p5 conferences black ball the PAC and refuse to play them . No problem. And even if it’s $15 mil/ yr. That’s better than joining the Mtn west.
