Java, I’m unable to respond directly to LADuck’s ridiculous response. The reply and like buttons are not listed on any posts, at least they’re not from my IPhone. There’s just a blinking box where the like and reply options were located?????? TIA
LADuck- pro sports should not be the same as college sports. When I watch the dodgers, I already know most of the players are playing for a paycheck. Most didn’t grow up dodger fans. Most didn’t grow up in LA. The only reason most of them are in LA is because they got DRAFTED by the dodgers, the others came because the dodgers were the highest bidder.
Why the f would I want that in college football? I understand you don’t give a shit. Oregon doesn’t produce HS players. Oregon has good players because of money and facilities. No trophies, no tradition, just money.
The current system gives duckies the advantage. Good for you. Enjoy. The vast majority of cfb fans outside of Eugene hate NIL. I’ve talked to several Ohio state fans. They hate it as well.
Not bitter because it’s Oregon, just hate what they did to the game. I don’t expect someone like you to understand.
Just my take on the whole NIL situation. We are both entitled to our own opinions. If you think NIL has improved CFB, that’s great.
Edit: my mind is completely fried, so some of that didn’t make sense. Didn’t explain how cfb used to be so much different/better than ANY pro sport… not editing it, too exhausting….. Some f’n teenager crosswired my car battery during a new battery purchase:installation. Fried my alternator, brand new battery and a chip or two. All day dealing with that shit. So far 3k in damage, probably gonna be more. Kid was 19-21 years old and FAT, just like most of the people in the state of Oregon. Cheers 😊
Of course you're good with that. I probably would be too if I were in your shoes. But the bottom line is that the sport is going to suffer. I don't think it's even necessary to have the name of the universities on the uniforms anymore.
Oregon was not Sisters of the Poor like you suggest they were. True, the other three programs you mentioned were doing most of the damage, but it's not like it is today. All of the things that made the sport great, the sport that you and I loved growing up, is going to disappear if something is not done.
I think that quarterback from Hawaii is the best example. You're right, he probably will never start at Oregon. And at the end of the day when somebody asks if he went to college he'll be able to say that he went to Oregon for a couple of years, then Boise State for a couple of years, and then finished up at SMU. And whatever he thought about Berkeley will be a memory. Maybe that's not important, or isn't as important as I think it is. But this isn't about Shakespeare. This is about, or should be about, COLLEGE football. And it isn't anymore.
