Campus subsidies for athletics via student fees and direct transfers:
Oregon: $0
UCLA: $2.1 million
Washington State: $6.8 million
Washington: $10.3 million
Oregon State: $10.7
Arizona: $12.2 million (excludes $31.6 million loan)
Stanford: $12.3 million
Utah: $16.3 million
Arizona State: $16.6 million
Colorado: $29.4 million
Cal: $33.8 million
(USC’s data was unavailable.)
What is the point? The money is getting there at USC.......it is just that USC (and Oregon) don't ask students and alumni to pay for student athletics.....until after they graduate and are successful. What to Cal get for charging it's students $33MM?.....answer: an empty stadium....ching chong ding dong.
Stanford has the biggest athletic endowment in college sports. I’m surprised they are subsidizing athletics at all or even need too.
Not sure about today but in the past the USC athletic dept was required to be self sufficient . But someone else might now more about the current situation.
Fuck CAL
