Moss (and this includes games against Utah St and Rutgers but also some opponents better than NEB presumably)
64% passing. 280 ypg 7.1 yards per attempt. 2 td/game 1 INT/game QB Rating 135.1 Loses 2 yards on 2.5 rushes a game. Scores .2 on the ground. Not sure about fumbles. He's had a couple. Not tons.
Maiva 71.4% passing, 7.4 YPA. 3 TD 1 INT QBR 156.2 Gained 20 yards on 5 rushes, 1 TD 1 horrible fumble His turnovers cost USC 10 points.
Overall pretty clear starting your first game mid season is a lot harder than being QB1 the last 10 months in spring and fall camp. Debut against NEB isn't easy. NEB is a very good defense. As Vista with all the ball cleaning he did with them when UCLA played them. Bruins beat NEB also, though without Raiola.
So considering it's game 1. Definitely some mistakes.
The things I look at are YPA and Moss's were decreasing as the season progressed. Thats hesitation. So 7.4 is solid. Percentage is also big. 70+ is great and 64% and falling is not. i also look at negative yards and plays. The pick 6 and the fumble in their own red zone were awful. But no sacks and the positive yards rushing were very Caleb like
I would say it's a good first start. He's probably got more of a chance to lose to a bad team but a better chance to beat a better or very good team
He wasn't just careless with the ball. He throws floaters off his back foot and he has a slow wonky delivery. He misses targets by a mile. These aren't "correctable" issues. He's a 3 star from Reno for a reaon. He's not a power conference QB.
Very astute. Not enough games played though to make a fair comparison IMO.
