The Raleek Brown situation is becoming clearer. He wants to redshirt to protect his eligibility. USC’s coaches do not want him to redshirt.
Whatever the stated reasons, Brown redshirting follows what wide receiver Gary Bryant did last year. Brown obviously wants three years of eligibility if/when he transfers. Lincoln Riley doesn’t want to redshirt him but also doesn’t seem too interested in playing him.
A good question is how did things sour so quickly? Brown was a Riley favorite, committing to Oklahoma and then switching to USC just a few days after Riley got hired.
I was one of the few who dared mention Brown was inconsistent last season, so I’m not saying he should be playing more or defending him. But it’s unusual to see a coach jettison a player so quickly, especially one who might break a big play at any moment.
One other thing: If Brown is simply trying to redshirt and not transfer, was he at the game Saturday?
Have at him. He doesn't block. Didn't respond to coaching and he thinks he's a star. He's too little to move the pile and his pop Warner jukes don't work at the college level.
Doubt it...Riley had Mario with him in the after game iterviews. Mario was rated by one source as the #1 WR in his graduating year..there are a lot of other guys I would prefer to see leave some starters that haven't shown me a thing after two games... might be Grinch's coaching though on a couple but geez not impressed with the offensive line so far either...perhaps that will fix itself when they settle on five..and sorry but Jones is a tough runner..but I just don't see him as a starter...he can't block and doesn't have a second gear...the frosh every chance he gets looks pretty good to me...and Llyod with enough carries is a star and he can catch and he BLOCKS...

More angry Trojans? Say it ain't so, Joe! 😝
We have room for Raleek as a WR, but not as a RB. Anyone really need 5-8 players these days? Pretty shifty and DAT-like, I'm guessing.
Will be interesting to see if this has any legs to it.
Regardless, GBJr is the gift that keeps on giving, no doubt.
Wasn't he a 5*
Ducks gonna go take a Raleek.
