UCLA's game against USC is a sellout, the school announces. That's 70,865 seats, including 16,700 UCLA students, which is the biggest student section in the history of UCLA football.

I don't know if it's possible to sell a student ticket to anyone, but if so then I suspect a number of those students will sell them. When I was a student there, you had to show your student ID, at least for the 'SC game. Then again, that was when you bought the ticket, not when you went into the Rose Bowl. Even still, I doubt if that many students show up. They don't give a fuck anymore, obviously. Until Chip is gone, few will.

I wore my UCLA jacket to the Coliseum once, during a USC-Notre Dame game. The Bruins had just beaten the Trojans the week before so I figured, hey, why not? That's why UCLA has been losing so much in recent years, it's the Waldorf Curse.

Others say it's the curse of Cade McNown, for something he did in the '98 game. I was there; no idea what it was.

On the flip side, I have another UCLA buddy who moved to Seattle right after the 1990 game and takes credit for the 8-game streak by getting out of town.

I think it was the last play from scrimmage, right before the end of the game. All McNown had to do was take a knee, but I think he gained a bunch of yardage on a naked bootleg. Trying to rub it in. Paul Can't Hackett was beside himself on the sidelines. In retrospect, it was bush league. And that was the end of the winning streak and the last time UCLA was conference champs, so......hmmmm.
