Interesting that of the top 22 teams in recruiting rankings per 247, only 3 aren't from the SEC or B1G (ND, Miami, G Tech). But yes, the Big 12 is really where we should be.....right, TEE? 😉
Oregon is currently at number 4, but has the highest average star ranking at 93.77 with only two 3* recruits (one is a high 3-star at 89 and the other is a kicker).
Color it all NIL (as you will, I'm sure!) but kids want to play for Lanning and what he has cooking up there. NIL or no NIL a 34-5 record all time as a head coach at a Power 5 school isn't too shabby.
Part of this are his assistant coaches - to go from Dilly as OC (who's now wreaking havoc in the Big 12 at ASU) to Stein without skipping a beat is pretty remarkable for a defensive-oriented coach. Part of that is kids like to play for a player's coach. He is a riverboat gambler for better or worse. And that will bite him in the butt as much as it benefits him, I'm sure.
But sitting currently at number 1 in the nation and undefeated, it's a crazy time to be a quack fan.
As someone said today, Oregon isn't a blue blood (damn straight we aren't), but we are a new blood. Which might be almost as good....
Be nice if the big ten added calfurd , so we could have a West Division.
Brah, you can try convincing non Ducks that Lanning is the reason for your success and A+ recruiting; but the # 1 reason for all that success is Billionaire Uncle Phil Knight deep check book. But, P K is 86 yrs old, the good times is a short distant away. He is draining his networth into your FB team, cause he desperately want to get a NC before his time is up.
Gloat all you want New Blood Oregon, when the moola stops, Oregon will go back to mediocrity-No Blood... Cheers.
