We've all heard the stories of Bush refusing to take any cash or perks in college. While the QB and hotshot WR were living in an extremely luxurious apartment with celebrities, Bush shared an 8x10 room with 2 foreign students. He subsisted on baloney sandwiches and 7-11 hot dogs. His transportation? A 20-year old rusty beach cruiser. Dude was a throwback.
One time a booster handed him a wad of cash and Bush immediately gave it back, saying, "I'm sorry sir, this is not right. I play for the love of the game. I'm going to have to report this to Compliance." Another time, he found a duffel bag full of cash in his locker and he immediately returned it to lost and found. While other players had gold and diamonds earrings, Bush eschewed bling. It just wasn't him.
When he found out that his parents were living in a home rent free, he was confused and had zero knowledge. His parents knew that Bush hated money and perks and would not have approved. Nobody who has ever lived follows rules more than Bush does. He has never even j-walked, guys.
I jaywalked in college. On the way from the Row to campus. So did everyone else. Daily. Lady cop wrote me up. I asked if she didn't have a husband she should be cooking for?
She was just doing her job.
Rent Free!
I heard it was so bad at one point that USC bagmen had to put crazy glue on the cash and throw it at him from a moving vehicle so it would stick and he couldn't get it off. Wild. It was like a ghillie suit made of 100 dollar bills.
Leinart was living in an apartment his father provided. Try again. Desperately.
