well, blame the voters. Beban was a joke; archie got lucky bc most the voters had already sent in their ballot before AD lit up ND in 74. I can see voting before the bowl game, but not the end of the season, esp. with a game/teams like that getting ready to meet. Stupid.

When the midget from Ohio State won his , 70 percent of the votes were in the east and Midwest. A few years later they reformed the voting to 20% each in 5 districts that made the voting much fairer. The Ohio State dwarf doesn't win if they had reformed the voting earlier.

Well you still end up w 80% of the voters east of the rockies. That's where the population lives in this country.

That said, I have heard that a lot of voters would have changed to ad after the comeback in 74. Again, why cast your vote when a leading candidate is about to play in a meeting of 2 too 5 teams. There is no excuse.
