Riley is a bust... Be honest and admit it here

Riley can't recruit assistant coaches worth a dang... they either can't coach talent, or can't recognize talent to recruit, or can't recruit... Pick at least 2 of the 3.

Riley recruited one player: Caleb who saved W's these past 2 years... otherwise SC would be a 3-9 team each year. Expect more of that next year without Caleb. This year's recruits/transfers will not improve the team. The Big10 is gonna run right through the SC Dline for the next 2 years...at least!

Riley and ALL the D coaches should be gone and the Oline coach too. These last 2 years showed the biggest falloff in Trojan football that my 66 years have seen... 2024 is going to be a disaster.

Not a bust yet. He didn't take over for USC after Pete like Lane, Sark or even Clay did where our national reputation was still good. This one's behind a paywall (I'd be happy to copy and paste if it's allowed here):

Holding onto Grinch was a mistake in hindsight but I could see the rationale. AG fielded two of OU's 3 best defenses between 2010 and 2022 and at Wazzu, he was pretty good by Year 3. OU's recruiting was in the mid-teens when CLR was hired on in 2015 and they sucked on defense. TBF he didn't really get that fixed but by 2014, Stoops made it clear that OU was going to be /an offense heavy program. Going to see how LR's defensive hires and overall philosophy changes for 2024 to dole out a verdict.

I'm really wondering what any HC saw in him to even give him a position on their staff. It's amazing that he's been able to con his way to where he is today. Hell, Ed O has won a NC. Riley will never come close to doing that.

Ran the offense at ECU where they went 10-3, their best record in 22 years, beat some P5 teams along the way and nearly knocked off Florida in a bowl game. OU lost their last game before hiring Riley to the tune of 40-6 and hadn't won the conference outright 4 years in a row. Recruiting had dropped into the mid-teens and even their defense was mediocre at best. Once CLR comes on, they go to the playoffs, win 6 conference championships in a row, and after he took over they go to 3 straight playoff games and raised their recruiting profile solidly back into the Top 10, sometimes Top 5.

If the CFB playoffs were around between 2009 and 2014, OU wouldn't have qualified for a single one.

I signed up for a subscription on the P at a deep discount and sadly I don't think some of these "fans" are parody accounts at all. If we're still mucking around in mediocrity a few seasons from now I'll gladly eat crow but the guy's admitted to making mistakes, let him run with the impressive changes that have been made thus far and see how it goes.

Maybe not a bust but he's not worth the current compensation, he has no strategy besides 🙏the portal gives him an improvising QB every year and he can't build a complete roster oqf coaches or players.

Pretty clear Riley hired 3 solid coaches and if Jen hired them Riley has to manage them. I don't much care who gets the credit

I wouldn't go as far as you but it is pretty clear Riley is simply an average coach. I agree next year will be ugly and that 2025 is make or break.
