Robert M. Hutchins was the youngest president of U of Chicago. He said the biggest mistake he ever made was eliminating football cuz alumni stopped donating. There is a Left-wing institute named for him at UC Santa Barbara, The Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions.
Cal football is what is burying UC Berkley?.....seriously doubt it. Dumbarse decsisions is waht is burying Cal Football...did they really need to go into debt over facilities upf-grades or stadium? Do they really need to support all the other sports departments? Didn't they get someting like $10M a year from UCLA? seems to me Cal has had plenty of opportunities to not be iin the sitution they are in and screwed the pooch. Might as well dump the whole athletic department and all sports if they think the only sport that should pay for itself is at fault for the debts incured by bad decision making...by the way similarly to UCLA student apathy in attending games and supporting the program sure the hell doesn't help.
Cal has a web of failure around it. The first ring is the school handling the stadium badly with a huge debt load that they cant escape. The second ring is the years of poor performance that degraded the alumni support year over year and decade over decade. The third ring is the campus hippie/marxist culture that encourages "equity" and spits on achievement. The fourth ring is the decadent crime tolerant Oakland Berkeley that invites homeless druggies to camp and shit while committing violent crime without prosecution. Last and not least is the pure negative environment of California government harassment and over-taxing of the productive, competitive, and creative. Cal cant afford to abandon football, but like UCLA it sucks.
As much as I hate to say it, football is not long for any California UC or State School. UCLA will have a tough time as well. The interest, both from alumni and current students and administrators is just not there. Little Skylar and Kale play soccer or lacrosse when they are not out marching for equality, and aren't allowed to play a mean sport like football anymore. It sucks, but that is where this is going.
Well said--and part of equity is the nearly random marxist theory that can calls nthings like achievement, earnings, investment and capitalism "unequitable". As a side note that piece of shit Bruin-turn commie Anglea Davis is down in georgia working on the Trump persecution.
Arnold went left and right...he was a mess...he sure wasn't a Conservative or Populist or Libertarian...but as Bill Burr once said "Arnold was a Great Man"
Lol. This Carlos guy is as woke as the rest of UC Berkeley. He wants to bulldoze the stadium and build affordable housing for the communities.
"You'll get nothing and like it."
lmao at cal. legends in their own minds.

thinking Title IX saves football
how are they going to fund all the Olympic Sports and woman's softball
not to mention paying off stadium debt without football?
football can be upgraded and marketed to the point being profitable, all other sports not so much.
if football goes, can woman's softball be far behind?

The Golden State is dying.
Marxists are winning......someone much smarter than me was asked how does an empire fall?? The answer is Slowly and then quickly.
