clearly Grinch is tipping his hand. Not so much by players or alignment (other than the first play dissected), but probably just the overall frequency of aggressive play. Grinch needs to dial back the blitzing/stunting and play a base defense and mix this in less predictably.
ANd the one on one tackling is atrocious. Hitting stationary tackling bags instead of live players is the blame here. As if nobody could see this coming...
I'd be curious to see a breakdown of USC defensive alignments/levels of aggression based on down and distance. Grinch may be tipping things bc he's doing the same things in the same circumstances too frequently.
They are sure sounding like the prior coach. We've got to look at the tape and then fix this. I think we've heard this after just about every game for the last year and a half.
