Nah, don't believe anything he said. USC is out due to Jonas Williams commitment. He is waiting to see Oregon's deal with Curtis. He and agent are in a wait and see mode with Oregon. It all depends with QB Curtis, if they get him = 0%. If not = 100% RL goes to Oregon. BYU = 100% if Oregon gets Curtis.
When Jonas committed, USC was out of the picture with Ryder. Heck, USC had to cover their arse, RL kept playing the field. That's fine and we should feel good in Jonas; he is a very good QB and will win a lot of games for USC... Cheers
Disagree...on the ability to run between the two. Ryder is a stronger runner but Jonas appears faster and more elusive and extends plays with his movement while looking downfield whereas Ryder seems to run when put under pressure more often than Jonas. I just don't see Ryder extending plays as much. Let me addt Ryder will not get the coaching at Oregon that Jonas should get under Riley....now will he start out with a stronger roster to support him ...yes but development plays into the differences in the maturation of both kids along with their ability to grasp the offenses and execute..You said it yourself...when Lyons said he wasn't scared of competition...that says more than anything else..
Ryder is going to be very good in college, and likely an NFL starter. Some of the best run/pass highlights you'll see. That said Jonas is super skilled with his elusiveness and pinpoint passes. I'm not sure you're correct that Ryder is a much better passer. But admittedly HS highlights are less than a clear picture. I've been fooled may times.
Im not concerned. The kid knows no matter where he goes he’ll have to compete.
He said it himself, he’s not afraid of the competition.
But at the end of the day, it’s a business decision….and if he wants to improve, then learning under the best QB in the country is the play.
