i loved San Clemente, owned a house in Riviera district, block and a half to beach. Wife was afraid of cliff slippage and made me sell. Next door neighbor had some damage when the ravine slipped after a storm. 15 years ago, no subqeuent damage. Never shoulda sold.
Not sure which area that is. The one by michels or the one where the houses are sliding down the hill. No thsts a lot more than 75 yards. Whole hillside
from the train station to the pier. Haven’t been south of the pier. That article deals w the tracks from about the pier area to that beach hut place. Off and on. Crazy to look at. This pic is probably taken from one of those dangerous lots. Liked it so much I bought it and put it in my man cave
San Clemente also is home to my cousin who writes girl porn. Another reason to stay away.
man you really liked HG. To be honest I just thought it was ok. My opinion is every place in that harbor is owned by some lazy rich guy who wants his own restaurant. Service at all of them sucks. But you’re there for the views. Wife likes the access and free parking. Free parking ends soon. Pizza place there is terrible lol. Service is better in the hd.
on the other hand. Bourbon steak? Eno steak? And the view from Raya? Well. $200-$300 still buys you something these days.
you do have the most amazing sandwich place. Right by the train station north end of town just south of the bike rental place. Amazing sammerches. Perfect on a Sunday.
oh and the gay guys at Michael’s. Ok they’re all gay. But the ones in the framing department are really helpful. Nice to have the lowes next door. The direction I come in I pass by the hs. Seems nice enough
my house supposedly went up $400,000 in the year I’ve owned it. Thsts a little hard to believe but given this market I guess I’m glad it hasn’t gone down.
I’d like to buy in strands but 17.50 million for a 4 bdr 8,900 sf house is beyond even my budget. So I walk down there and am amused when the security guard reminds me to stay on the sidewalk. Guess I found a place where I’m the trailer park trash.
I’ve always advised against buying houses within .5 miles to the beach especially near cliffs. Water can do crazy things a lot farther and deeper than we can imagine.
I appreciate the help, but it's not my kinda of place, since I prefer amazing food
remember we are talking about another's preferences, based on their commentary
If you're wondering about my preferences, I only meet at Maestro's for drinks since the people watching is pretty good, the food is ok and the service not so great
the OC is basically desert when it comes to great restaurant service
Oc has a ton of great places. I just think Mastro’s is overdone. The one in CM is better than the one on Newport coast
oc service is pretty good in a lot of places. Worst service ever is Hawaii. Lazy people with a Self inflated view that’s comical. NorCal Bay Area service is funny. Dude. Shut up and take my order and get back in the kitchen. I don’t want to hear your life story or that of the restaurant.
best? Bourbon steak. Waldorf Astoria Dana point. Arrived and the waiter says “good evening mr and Mrs Java. Been looking forward to your arrival. I’ve got a special table picked out for you” and it went from there. Knew the whole menu by heart. Chefs tendencies. Pricing. Food first rate. Engaging without being overbearing. Must have been spying on us from a distance bevause the timing was perfect for everything. beautiful resort Incredible view. Hard to top.
stake chophouse. Weird spelling. On Coronado was great but that whole area was so crowded it’s hard to get beyond the parking and people hassles to get in. Used to love the hotel but they’ve turned it into a sardine can to wring $ of every square inch of the place. sad. Great memories when I used to visit and couldn’t really afford to be there. Wife and I did stay in the honeymoon suite once. That was nice.
internationally? They all suck. Everyone. Either their food. Their service or something. Have to beg for a check in Europe or they’ll never see you leave. Might as well bring a pillow and blankets with you
I heard houses in San Clemente are built without closets. Or maybe the closets are buiit without doors. Either way you can't ever come out of the closet.😂
Just a weird town. rr tracks running at the base of cliffs and behind 5 million dollar homes. 5 freeway running through town. I actually like the place. Shop at lowes and Michaels there. They have the best chick fil a. Only one I’ve been to without lines around the block.
The RR tracks are a little known artifact of the hateful Leland Stanford monopolist. The RRs were granted land for building RR (200 million acres) so Stanford and his criminal accomplices built along the water everywhere that wasnt previously claimed in order to prevent ports from being built. They wanted to stop ports so the RR would have a near monopoly so Californians like farmers could only get their goods to market via RR. Stanford used tactics like raising rates AFTER HRVEST, charging more for short runs than long, secret shipping rates, and discriminatory rate setting.
Actually those tracks run right by and through dohenys murdered kids aborted real estate venture. Wound up becoming A state beach. Famkly didn’t want to finish it w him dead. He wasn’t killed down here. The archway remains. Kinda buried. I jog by it now And again

Now you know why I moved back from the front row To the top of the hill.
has cliff issues 20 years ago . Put in caissons (not cheap)
good thing those cliffs in wujan point are made out of different stuff. lmao
probably eventually move the train all the way back to the freeway, which is also fine with me. sc
ps Harbor Grill closed on Thursday , hope you got a chance to go.

God Hates San Clemente.
