I would put Northwestern at the top of old Big 10 academically. Purdue is right up there....but an overweight in Engineering.....compared to Northwestern.
Purdue provided us w some of the best Bobby knight material.
That's a fair assessment of them academically. Theyre a state school. Their Krannert school of business is solid. Grad school even better. Think they have some good ag programs.
Are they elite? Well. In engineering sure. So good for them. Dad and uncles were all Purdue engineers. Mom was just fortunate enough to have depression era parents who got her there. So mom was lucky to go to college at all. Oddly she looks back on it and thinks it was Hicksville and country and all that but people forget to appreciate where they came from. Too bad.
Purdue is a great place for a lot of people. And their athletic teams are never on probation. Ever. They do a great job. Would be nice to see them win something. Anything. Ever. Just so the clean guy can finally have his day.
Northwestern is known for their journalism school. Journalism as a career has become a joke the last 50 years, and that's before you get to alums like Brent Mussberger, who should have never enjoyed the career he had. completely talentless hack. Syracuse is a better school.
Engineers have to know their field. Journalists have to know how to operate a keyboard and hold a mic. Yawn.
And they produce a ton of them. Like 1/3 of that school is. At one time they graduated more engineers per year than USC graduated students. All of that has probably changed.
I like em. I like black and gold. White works too. Colorado also.
Not sure what they wore against usc. Maybe Nike screwed up their design. Wouldn’t be the first time.
Purdue has to have at least one white starter. It’s a state law

Just ask Bobby Knight: https://youtu.be/Chdg7wEGfYw
Probably the toughest school academically in the old Big 10. Very few can be engineers.
