From Kyle Ford speaking about the receivers group under Riley versus last year. The receivers are expected to block. If they don't they wont play much and many of the designed plays require the receivers to make blocks
From QB Williams who threw for one TD and ran 40 yards for another , he felt the offensive line played well. But according ot OL Coach Hansen the play of the OL was disappointing. He felt they started off down.
A side note according to the players Williams is THE team leader staying after practice with the receivers getting in more routes and throws and holding meetings in his room to go over notes and plays. According to the players Williams seems to be involved with all his offensive guys both on and off the field...
As a last note according to the discussion by Ryan on 247 it appears Riley wants Williams to stay in the pocket more and it looks like they wont be running the number of designed running plays for his QB as they did at OU..
i understood it a little different after listening to the post practice interview. I heard no thing to suggest there will be less designed QB running plays, only that CW what’s to develop more pocket awareness (Patience). He also mentioned that he stayed in the pocket too long at times last season, so I’m thinking he more referring more to pocket awareness. Maybe I’m wrong.
