Do you think usc and ucla could have partnered with tx ok and some of the better remainder schools. Oregon. Uw. Ok state tcu tt etc and formed a western 12-16 team cknfeeence? Or would that have been much messier and this is a quicker cleaner move?
i think revenge is absolutely a factor In this
Not sure if this has been discussed but some media person (I forgot) on the Paul Finebaum show said that Fox Sports was influential in getting the Ucla/Sc to move to the big 10 as part of the negotiation with the Big 10 on a new TV deal. The timeline made sense in that the negotiation was suppose to be completed, then it got suspended and the announcement was made yesterday. Plausible scenario since ESPN has rights to SEC games after the CBS deal ends and Fox now gets Big 10 + Ucla/Sc.
This seems to be "cleaner" move in that the Big 10 is already a somewhat smoothly run division. It will likely further evolve before 2024, but it is currently doing well on it's own. Trying to set up something from the ground floor would be insane it today's climate, too much BS, best to just tinker with an engine that works.
