From what you saw, what was the offensive game plan at the start of the game. It looked pretty vanilla to me.
What adjustments, if any, did the offensive coaches made once it became obvious that the OL couldn't block Notre Dame with the original scheme.
Was the defensive scheme materially different from what it has been, or did the defense just have fewer offensive options to worry about?

I muse that playing a 3LB,, 4 DBs, 4 DL would be an inteerresting experiment. That assumes competant tackling.
Rollouts and max protect packs would /should buy him time. Take the snap from center so 57 can react better.
I've read clemente's take and its not wrong, however I'd say our defense played well. We forced a number of 3 and outs and truly only gave up 17 pts. Our oline shet the bed, however and it caused Caleb to panic. Truly, though, despite terrible play on our end, it was a game going into the 4th quarter. We scored, making it an 11 pt difference, shut them down for a few consecutive series prior to that and then... they returned the kickoff for the td. That was the knell in the coffin. We gave up 35 pts off turnovers and didn't create any ourselves. ND lost the week prior, in similar fashion, to Louisville after turning the ball over 5 times but we added a kick return for a td.
I hope we get inspired and angry thru this second half of the season but who knows. Our team goes as its leader goes and if he gets blown up again, we're in trouble. We'll beat Cal but everyone else is going to be a dogfight. 8-4 worse case, 10-2 best case, 9-3 would be very good considering who we have left on our schedule.
On a bright note, our running game looked good. Branch is back and is clearly the most physically gifted beyond Rice - he's a difference maker. Let's beat Utah, take it one game at a time to the finish and realize its just football - our team has given us more to cheer than ever boo. I'm also glad we're talking about this in our lives vs how the hell do we get out of Gaza.
not sure about trained eyes. been watching for 50 years.
But what I saw was SC's o line was simply overwhelmed. Caleb had no time, and when he did he held onto the ball way too long.
It didn't look like CLR or Caleb were prepared for this possibility.
There were no adjustments. ND d just kept turning up the heat. CLR did nothing to make them pay.
Defense tackled better than it had all year which was a pleasant surprise. ND kept it bland, because SC couldn't get to their quarterback and they seem to always have the short field.
Special teams stinks. CLR doesn't seem to care.
Grinch's defense couldn't get to the french quarterback and forced no turnovers. Gave up another big play just as SC was crawing back into the game.
So yes, the offense was more of a problem. But the defense , other than tackle a little better also stunk.
That's what I saw anyways. sc
