Bowl games outside of the playoffs are irrelevant in the new era. You want to keep the bowls then exand the playoffs to 16 teams and limit it to 16 bowl games. Conference champs get to the playoffs.
I’m fine with him sitting . As a sprinter who had more than one pulled hamstring , for me it took 3-6 weeks. It will probably be a game time decision and a lot will depend on how bad he wants to play I am fine with Miller Moss if necessary. I think we can win with Moss
Hey Trojans - TEE's post is completely misleading. His overall thought isn't bad about why we play these games (and will be even more relevant once the top 12 teams are in the playoffs), just his facts are bad. LOL...need I say more?
For the record it's not 15 players who are opting out of the bowl game. It's 4 (so far): Sewell, Gonzalez, DJ Johnson and likely Dorlus. All instead concentrating on the upcoming draft.
The 15 players TEE mentioned aren't opting out of the bowl game, they have all (with 1 exception, ie Thornton) been gently "shown the transfer portal door" by Lanning to make room for better recruits and transfers. Pretty typical stuff for a new coach.
BTW had Bo Nix declared for the draft, sounds like his intent would have been to play in the bowl game regardless.
Flowe didn't take to coaching. He still simply freelanced and tried to use his natural abilities rather than work in tandem with the rest of the defense. Good riddance, basically. As noted previously, with the transfer portal you don't have to have a ton of patience as in years' past.
Seven McGee wasn't good enough. He had promise early in HS that never panned out.
Cardwell played 3rd or 4th at best at RB. With #6 RB Dowdell and #17 RB Limar coming in, and with Whittington and Irving coming back, no room for Cardwell.
Walden was continually injured, and likely was encouraged to look elsewhere for that reason alone.
Sure, some of these guys might have left on their own due to no or little playing time, but bottom line they just aren't good enough at this point to start at Oregon. But that's one way of pushing out a player, of course.
Believe it or not, TEE, not sure it matters whether you believe it or not. Only thing that matters is Lanning wants a better team than he had when he started. And that is something you better believe in. 😆
Ok. I saw a post on line. That after the bowl game , with new recruits, opt/outs , graduates, early entries, that since Mario’s last game; there will only be 25 schollie players left from the Mario regime.
Most of these players would benefit from a good showing in a bowl game to help their draft status. I understand the player who is a high 1/2 round pick protecting himself but not the rest
I’m seeing players STILL uncommitted in playing in their team’s bowl game (okie and others). Absolutely no advanced notice.… All about the player- team comes 2nd,,, or 3rd
Thats what happens when you rent players. Trojans don’t have anyone opting out. Voerhees and Addison won’t play due to injuries. Congrats on a great recruiting finish.
The fact that Voorhees didn’t play in the CCG means he’s probably still hurt, so I wouldn’t be too harsh on him. But Addison played so I’d say he’s physically able to play against Tulane.
This is exactly why I like Riley and SCs approach…NIL will not be a priority. It’s a major part, but not the top reason. Fisher and Lanning are making it numero uno.
I think players that are more concerned with the money instead of the team are players we’ll pass on. SC could have outbid Zero for Matayo, but they didn’t. They had a limit and stuck with it, if that’s not enough for some of these players…..well, bye. And I’m good with that. I want players that want to play for USC, not players that just care about themselves and what they can get paid.
Mateo would be lucky to be third string on the dl at USC with the returners and incoming players probably ends up the TE and if USC gets Duce he will sit there as well. Most irritating thing I saw was the video of Lanning puffing on his big cigar acting like he actually recruited these guys...
Where was Sewell when the Beavers ran it 20 straight times in the 2nd half and seemed to get 5 yards or more a pop?
I absolutely hate this.

Caleb Williams should sit it out. Hammies don't heal in a month. Tear it bigger and he could some or most of next season. sc

Why are you such a whiner?
