Thoughts. Lucas arrived as a 5 star flameout from ATM's historic class they purchased. Bombed out at USC last year so to see him start is good news. He clearly has talent and someone is bringing it out.
Little surprised to see eyer and Clifton atop the DT chart. Shows how weak USC was at that spot that a Vandy and Wyoming couple can come in and start And having Bear be an OR is just bad news all around at USC's most important position.
Muhammed returns but seeing Shelby backing up Lucas is a mild surprise. He was young talented and inconsistent last year so I suppose I expected him to start.
2 newcomers at LB/NB. Surprised to see Davis continue to back up with all the hype fans give him. Cobb?gentry share surprises a little. Brown again is a back up seeing Vance ahead of him.
DB-the mix of new and old gives us 8 familiar names. Either well known transfers coming in like Arnold. or well known returnees backing up.
Looks to me like the back 7 has some real depth and experience. We will see if they can play together but Arnold playing behind Arnold even though they are new will help a lot.
Defense looks intriguing. We will see if Lynn can hold them together and create a unit. D more than O is a team game
scary lack of depth at qb and OL. USC needs to get lucky injury-wise this year. If Quinones goes down again like last year, things are going to unravel.
I agree that OL is a concern but not at Guard.....if Murphy hasn't raised his game and if the young kid at LT goes down USC will be in trouble...that is where the problem could be....of course Monheim can play T or G or C so that's good and Talani was fighting for playing time at Guard until an injury slowed him down in camp...and the backup center could do the job filling in for Monheim..so Tackle is the real issue IMHO....
It say "OR"....which means they haven't decided who starts but in either case he's battling the kid with the most talent Ja'Kobe...I'd say he's doing pretty well and let me add...Bryson Shaw sucks...
