UCLA thought they were getting the blur offense when Kelly was hired. Obviouly, the vetting process was a failure, however, it turned out that Kelly was undone by his DC hires until he got Lynn.

I think his refusal and failure to recruit was just as damaging as his DC hires. Also, as some on BRO have pointed out, his offenses have been inconsistent. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but he seems to just want to tinker with it instead of settling on a consistent approach that establishes an identity.

Yes, I had no idea his recruiting would end up being so terrible. Last in the conference in offers being sent out. I knew once Stanford was offering more kids than Kelly that the end was near. Lazy ass recruiter.

Chip Kelly's buyout is relatively cheap. It's "only" about $8 million right now, which isn't shit in the world of college sports. Hell, they paid Jim Mora more than that. I think they even paid Neuheisel and Dorrell more than that, but I could be wrong. (EDIT: They did pay Dorrell $8.7 million to get fucked, but they only had to pay CRN $250,000....gee, nice contract, Rick!)

If I were the AD, I'd have fired the fuck about two years ago, but not firing him Saturday night or Sunday morning is the epitome of pussiness on the part of Jar Jar. You have to send a message, and UCLA apparently doesn't give a shit.

Apparently Fatty's buyout goes down to about $4 million and change after December 15, so I'm guessing they're going to wait. I suppose they could fire him after the Bruins get massacred next Saturday, which is when most UCLA coaches get shitcanned, after a loss to USC. Or they could wait until the loss to Kal. Or maybe they won't fire Fat Bastard at all. I can see that happening, truly, and it's the absolute worst scenario of all.

But if Jar Jar and the Suits (that'd be a great name for a band!) are truly waiting until after December 15 to save $4 million, then that makes them the cheapest motherfuckers who ever squeezed the shit out of a buffalo.
