I was suprised that Urban Meyer didn't push for either the Texas or USC jobs when they were open years ago in that both are in very fertile recruiting areas and with USC he could dominate recruiting in California. It's baffling for the old guys like me to see USC not do well. It's akin to back in the day not making the telephone book. Pretty hard not to do. A blue blood like USC should never be down for long.

They just bumped it up again. Not sure if they still have an 85 scholarship limit but they set the roster size at 105. And that includes walk ons. So for schools with big NIL budgets like Oregon that just kills the walk on program.

They’ll now give 85 scholarships. And then give 20 others nil money to basically pay the tuition and beyond.

So if USC did the same I would imagine they could bring in a lot of guys in a short time. When you have recruiting momentum suddenly 40 guys all want to join your team

Sorry not buying most of what he said and thinks. OK, USC has a strong, experienced AD in Cohen, just got an A+ GM and staff, A+ DC and his AC. Not sure about the HOV? But, looking at how the 2026 class is shaping up, looks like HOV has opened their Ck Book.

Disagree with his pro stance with C. LR. The wrong and missing puzzle is HC. C. LR is not the right coach for USC. He is just an OC at best and at $10 Mil a year with $70 Mil left in his contract. USC is on the Hook. Somehow, USC needs to rid C. LR and find a strong minded leader, A+ recruiter, well organized, well liked, media savy HC. His post game interviews are terrible and full of sheet. Sor far, in his 3 years of running the FB program have been disappointing. I've jump off the C. LR ship.

I think C. Patterson, ASU, C. Fink, UDub and even C. Kiffin, Ole Miss are better suited HC's for USC.

Pate is a SEC homer, grew up hating, SC. He actually had a segment on this.

So when he says stuff like this, it tells me the changes are real. Us homer see the changes, but when a hater sees them, then we know it’s legit .

One of two things will happen, SC will do well this year…10 wins and a playoff berth, or they wont, and Riley is canned.

Either way is fine….we’re either winning, or Jen will hire a coach that will.

Fortunately, for USC. High school, coaches and players are among the first to notice this stuff. Fortunately also Riley has been there 3 years so he’s not trying to go play catch up with guys who have known the bama coaches since 2022 or 23

Riley may not have had the weaponry in terms of NIL or a GM or momentum but he was in the room. Now he has a guy in Bowden who is well respected. Running the roster management show and can put together deals in a way that kids like. Parents too. I’m guessing it’s moderate money and escalator clauses into big money if you stick around. Seems fair for everyone.

And suddenly USC has momentum. Right until their first bad loss of the fall. USC with momentum is a bit of a freight train. Really hard to stop. All good news for fans and Riley. Bad news is these kids won’t play their first game for a year and a half and a ton can happen between now and then. Bowden can get a nfl job. Lynn henny as well. USC offense can regress and have a 7-6 8-5 season Teams that lose 4 games don’t have #1 recruiting classes.

Riley wasn’t responsible for a non functioning NIL collective, that was a SC problem, spearheaded by a woke POS, and a general belief they didn’t need to approach recruiting like Oregon and A&M does. They were painfully incorrect. Now that she’s gone, and Cohen is allowed to run the program accordingly, things have definitely changed. That’s an undeniable facr.
Riley is learning on the job, he’s never built a program on his own, he’s not from California, he didn’t have the connections or the experience to realize how important recruiting California is. To his credit, he has completely changed his approach on that. Just like he did with the defense.
You trust your government WAY too much. You need to question them more. There’s so much information out there, verifiable information, that flips a lot of scripts on their heads. You should do some research before blindly popping off…it makes you look uneducated and ignorant. A sheep.
