Ability to break a tackle
Ability to Shed a blocker
Ability to Tackle
Ability to Catch the Ball
Ability to Read a Defense
Football IQ
How well can he move his feet
How well they will handle becoming an overnight multi-millionaire
2nd to Last one may be biggest factor for an OL/DL. So many guys get overvalued here just based on physical measurables.
This is where game film is critical.
The Combine measures your athleticism.
The actual Games measure your football abilities.
Two totally different things.
I think football abilities are actually more important. The old Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Cooper Kupp tree….
You find both boxes checked and you find the great ones.
Do think for certain positions…Middle Lber, OL, DL and even QB the 40 yard dash is a very overvalued measurement. Want power, burst and strength here.
Here is good intel on 40 times.
Its even useless for Skill position? Thats surprising. Only one star Per below.
Adage rings true. Track guys can’t play football.
