biggest surf I have ever been in was 18 feet with some 20 foot sets in dell mar
my leash snapped , and it was the only time on my life I thought I might die. Foam was four feet thick, so it was hard to get your bearings . They call it the washing machine.
watching that video made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
humbled forever. These big wave guys are a different breed. sc
@San Clemente When I was 17 I thought was a man. Mother Nature proved otherwise. Our group used to body surf in a few OC beaches. For some reason we thought we we’re ready for the WEDGE. SMH. I was slammed on a shore drop and was knocked out. Don’t mess with Mother Nature!
@tempomacdougall Sissy straps take on a whole new importance in river surfing....In contrast to recovering your surfboard on the beach after falling off there......surfing on a river like this......without strapping on your sissy strap....means you lose your board downriver for good if you ever fell off "strapless"......
Jeff Clark going out and surfing Mavericks when it had never been ridden still amazes me.
That’s just insane.
