CLR inherited a mess. A colossal mess.
He had just 2 things going for him.
Last season d coordinators had no idea how to deal with an elusive freak like Caleb .
Last season grinch and his gamble speed defense had a lot of success early getting turnovers. Since then , not so much.
Teams adjusted. CLR and Grinch have not.
They are both religious nut jobs when it comes to their schemes.
When something isn't working neither seems capable of seeing that it needs to be changed even after seeing tape but especially live during a game.
Grinch chooses players based on how much they TRUST his scheme. Shaw, 47. 34 . Are good examples.
CLR believes so much in his offense that he apparently doesnt think that effort is needed to recruit big nasty o lineman.
Doubt either has a reality check anytime soon. sc
riley somehow thinks hes operating in a vaccuum. he's the guru and none of the other coaches are paying attention. it's really exactly the opposite.
I haven't seen every USC game this season, but I've seen half of them, I think. And I'm not here to rip on any individual kid because they're playing their hearts out. And they're playing for a team that is a blueblood, and very few ever get that chance. But I concentrate a lot on line play when I watch college football, and whoever #47 is on the USC DL is just not a good player, regardless of scheme. I have no idea who he is or why he's out there, but offenses are constantly finding him and taking advantage. He really does nothing. And players who do nothing add nothing.
