Makes sense. And personally, I'm down with this possibility. It's the future. And the future can be good, believe it or not. The past wasn't really all that great, just familiar and comforting to some of those who have difficulty accepting change.
I'm hoping the B1G sees a similar opportunity for them in this regard. Now that we are officially all a part of the B1G, anything we do to change the name of our current conference from what it has historically been (the counterpart, errr "arch-enemy", of the Pac-8/10/12 Conference), I'm all for.
Let's take it all the way out. What are the natural sponsors for the other conferences, based on their traditional lineups?
SEC -- Waffle House
ACC -- Philip Morris
B1G -- General Motors
Pac -- Coors Light
I'm open to other suggestions.
Pure Mayhem
Can you imagine Keith Jackson saying ‘welcome to the BYD Rose Bowl presented by Valero energy’
Makes me sick to think about it.
I hope not. The Allstate Conference sounds stoooooooopid.
What's next? The Auto Zone Conference?
dear good no. these knuckleheads ruined the bowl games. It's horrible looking at the naming rights being applied to stadiums and fields. When is enough enough.
The Rose Bowl was the last hold-out for corporate sponsorship. I'm sure all that newfound cash went to good causes (sarcasm). How about The Nevada Bunny Ranch Conference?
Sounds like it might work in this case. The name "Allstate" would fit a regional conference perspective. I suppose it would depend on the name of the sponsor. So if a big automaker ponied up the cash for the BIG, what would you think of the KIA conference? Let's hope not
