Not totally true. Had ASU's prez not had such a huge ego and hard on for Larry Scott, the p10 would have taken ESPN's $30M deal and still be around today. Or had UCLA stayed, the p11 would still be around.
It was much more about the loss of the whole LA market, not the loss of USC.
But, yes, USC had the history, the pagentry like no other team in the p12 - but on the other side of the coin has pretty much done bupkis in college football since 2008 or so.
