I just listened to this Baylor podcast and it seems like player development has been an issue there under Aranda. TLDR: he does a great job with more experienced players, however the younger guys miss out. Might be worth thinking about even if he does get fired in the coming weeks.
I think the players for the most part are playing balls out. They are in a no-win situation. I wonder how many regret coming to usc at this point. I think we will find out after next week's game. I suspect a lot of players are heading for the portal and will opt out of any bowl game USC gets offered.
Team defensive statistics where Aranda was defensive coordinator for various schools nationally: #82, #73, #15, #9,#9, #2, #5, #12, #30, #32
looks like he peaked 2013-2016 and then began to falter a bit and as a HC at Baylor his defesne is giving up over 32 points a game.....like I said just put his name on a list but he is not a sure thing..
Aranda alongside his OLB coach Tim Tibesar were named Linebacker Coaches of the Year for 2015 by FootballScoop.[26]Â
Over Aranda's three-year span as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin his defense ranked FIRST nationally in total defense, SECOND in scoring defense, THIRD in pass defense and FOURTH in run defense.[27] His final season with the Badgers his defense came in FIRST in scoring defense, allowing just 13.1 points per game.[28]
One year out of 10 and as I said he had a good run from 2013-2016...started to slide after the peak...so what you posted I already had posted with the numbers...and according to the numbers I posted his defense was never ranked #1 but got to #2 ....but remember his last two years as a DC he was ranked #30 and #32 and his D at Baylor this year sucks..in fact they just gave up 59 against Kansas St...

recruitment is weak right now...no game breakers coming in
