Untrue. Overall talent in SoCal especially is down from previous years, not a single 4-star DT and only one 4-star OL. Plus SC's reputation among local talent is not good so it might actually be easier to convince OOS kids to come to CA for the time being.
Not an Alex Grinch fan but he did field two of OU's three best defenses between 2010 and 2022 and everywhere else he's gone, he improved the defense in Year 1 and even moreso in Year 2. At the time it was reasonable to think that an infusion of talent would bring the unit up to average but he kept making the defense too complex and crapped the bed game after game.
The reason those locals don't show up has more to do with USC since Carroll left and the lack of development of the few bigtime California players they did get and let me add...kids from MD have seen first hand how USC has treated their players once they arrived...and in the meantime Oregon came in and programs from out of state came in during those years and made huge in roads into the state and then came NIL....loyality these days is to the buck not the school..
Yep. Texas's recruiting class is currently sitting right about where ours is (although I expect them to shoot up before signing day) and they have Top 3 NIL. They're missing out on guys left and right too so despite their on field success, there's a lot of moving parts.
No. What hurts for you guys is not keeping your top in state kids. Goes for the Bruins too
never thought he was coming. yawn. sc
Think how Texas must feel losing two 5* players from their state committing to Ohio St.
You guys got the #1 player and QB in Juju. You guys are set at QB for the next 5 years.
