@Pasadena Trojan UCLA beat the Huskies in Seattle in 1990, 25-22. I remember the win but not any details of the game. Tommy Gun's arm must've been working pretty well that day. It was a huge win for the Bruins in an otherwise decent season.

I remember my UW friends were completely pissed off about the loss; cost them a potential national title even though they'd lost to Colorado earlier that year; that was back when Colorado was really good, remember that?

But it just goes to show you how dumb it often is that a 10-2 team has no shot at a national title in a 4-team playoff. That UW team was really good, probably as good as any team in the nation. Of course, there was no playoff back then. But had there been one, the Huskies wouldn't have gone.

The 18-17 game you mention was against Washington State in Pullman. But you got the Wellman part right. Epic drive with under two minutes left.

@Masked Man That game in Seattle marked the shift in Pac-10 power from the South to the North. It didn't shift back until SC beat up on Oregon in 2002.

No doubt. Emtman was a total stud. Sucks his career was shortened by injuries but likely more to do with steroid abuse. His frame wasn't meant to pack on that extra weight in a short period and play football at a high level. He was a weight room beast.

That Purple Reign defense is the best I've ever seen.
