Yeah, seen this movie before. Many times. Committing to USC raises a recruits profile and leads to more offers. UCLA “stealing” one from us.

I thought the same and rumors that SC might get some much needed beef on the defense. makes me smile. I don't see most three stars as the next Troy Polumalu, cause they don't. Most three stars suck. With the portal , don't want to lock out too many schollies for 5 years on gambles. sc

I recall 1997 or 98 when ucla opened 0-2 then won 10 straight. Then won 10 more to open next year. The recruiting floodgates. opened. They got the #1 class on all that momentum. Dropped a lot of their early commits and burned bridges

but you do that to get talent.

ff to 2002 and usc had a dark horse heisman candidate who built a great season and eventually won. Usc too started 2-2 I think and wound up 11-2 and finished as a National darling. Which in many ways reminds me of this year. I posted this analogy early this year but had no idea it would play out that similarly because at the time it didn’t look like it.

anyway. Usc parlayed rhat into a recruiting run the sport had never seen the next few years. Kids love momentum and right now usc has it. So harsh as it is they’re probably telling some 3 stars to look elsewhere. Sad since they probably would have been 5 year committed great Trojans.

but when you have a chance to get a 6-4 260 Lb dude who runs a 4.5 40 and bench presses a Toyota you don’t care if he’s going to be there 3 years or whether he can spell cat if you spot him the c and the a. It’s just about getting ath a letes and winning games.

He was a true freshman. Can't judge the kid yet. The measurables are there might just need more experience and coaching.

I have never even seen him play. But 6-4 275 , top 40 national recruit out of HS is someone I would take a chance on.

Yeah and he's had a year of college development under his belt. Might be ready to break out soon.
