Can't argue with that. Before Helton was hired I believe KW was up for consideration but that was the season where we beat them by 40 points or something like that and promoted him from interim HC to full time HC.
Circa Riley? I find that hard to believe but I also stopped paying attention the last few years. I know KW was having some issues with UU's admin around the mid 2010's but they got that sorted out and Whit is getting close to retirement age so I'm not sure how interested he would have been. Nonetheless we would definitely have a better defense at this point.
Clem would have to weigh in on KW's interest in SC. That's all I'm going on. From what I've read, Utah has given him a lot of special benefits that will continue after he retires if he stays in SLC, so I personally doubt there was any interest beyond just contract renegotiation leverage (if that was even an issue). He's got a good set up in Utah with reasonable expectations that are easy to meet. It will be interesting to see how they do in the B12. I know Riley won't miss him.
